How to cancel Planet Fitness

Planet Fitness cannot be cancelled online — most locations require an in-person visit or a certified letter.

If not: visit the club in person, or send a written cancellation letter by certified mail
Ask for written confirmation and keep it

What they don't tell you

Most locations require in-person or certified-mail cancellation. Phone and email are usually refused.
Cancelling after roughly the 10th of the month often means one more charge.
The annual fee may still bill if it falls due before your cancellation is processed.

Before you cancel — the cheaper option

Gyms rarely discount but often allow a freeze (typically $5–10/month) which stops the full charge.
